There was a Tony but never a Caneca at this landmark Ironbound restaurant. Brothers Tony and Artur Almeida were the original owners; "caneca" is Portuguese for the clay jars wine was often kept in. Several appetizers rated high marks - the shrimp in garlic sauce, and chorizo, set on fire at your table. Good red and white sangria, fresh and fruity. The formidable grilled prawns, served sizzling on a stone, were crisp and meaty. Lots of great choices.
