The restaurant is small and friendly, an alternative for those who feel swallowed up in the larger Ironbound establishments. Portions are ample, per Ironbound tradition. Recommended appetizer: Portuguese sausage, chewy and spicy. The grilled rack of lamb is super-sized, juicy and cooked to perfection. The filet mignon with mushrooms is not for the fainthearted; the monstrous slab of meat is served, sizzling, on a flat stone. Other recommended entrees: paella Valenciana, a steaming pot of lobster, clams and mussels served over firm yellow rice; and salmon in rosemary sauce, thick, soft, flaky-fresh. If one had to live by bread alone, make mine the soft, fresh loaves at Taste of Portugal.
